Publix Super Markets Charities to Present $200,000 Check to Feeding South Florida® During Sept. 9 Mobile Food Distribution in Miami

Donation Takes Place During Hunger Action Month, Feeding America®’s Nationwide Initiative to Raise Awareness About the Issue of Hunger in America

What:
Publix Super Markets Charities will present a $200,000 donation check to Feeding South Florida during a Sept. 9 mobile food distribution in Miami. The donated funds will be used to acquire two refrigerated vehicles: a 36-foot tractor/pup trailer and a 26-foot box truck, which will increase Feeding South Florida’s ability to rescue and distribute food to families in need.

The Feeding South Florida mobile food pantry truck will be on-site. Twenty-one pallets of fresh produce and other food items will be distributed to individuals in need at Glory Temple Ministries, one of Feeding South Florida’s more than 400 nonprofit partner agencies.

Background:
The $200,000 donation is part of Publix Super Markets Charities’ $5 million donation to the Feeding America® network, including 28 member food banks and 38 of their local partner agencies across Publix’s operating area. This year’s $5 million contribution to the Feeding America network is more than three times the amount previously given in any year, and provides funding to assist in the transportation and program needs of the food banks and agencies.
