Miami shows support to Feeding South Florida During Give Miami Day

Give Miami Day raised a total of $7.1 million for more than 600 local charities. Feeding South Florida led Miami-Dade food-related charities during the latest Give Miami Day fundraising drive.

A dozen food-related Miami-Dade nonprofit organizations have started 2016 with some extra dough thanks to almost $100,000 in donations during The Miami Foundation’s latest Give Miami Day.

The 24-hour Give Miami Day brought in a total of $7.1 million for 600-plus local charities, 12 of which are food, agriculture and nutrition organizations.

The biggest food winners?

Feeding South Florida received 123 gifts for a total of $46,109. The Pembroke Park-based nonprofit aims to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.
