In Honor of its 35th Anniversary, Feeding South Florida® to Host “Epic Anniversary Party” 35-Hour Sort-a-Thon on March 4 & 5

Who/What:

In celebration of its 35th anniversary of service to Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, Feeding South Florida®, the sole Feeding America food bank serving South Florida, is hosting its first-ever “epic” 35-hour Sort-a-Thon at its main warehouse. Volunteers – 100 maximum per shift – will sort donated food.

The goal of the community event is to sort 350,000 pounds in 35 hours in honor of Feeding South Florida’s 35 years of service.

The festive, kid-friendly event will feature food, music, face painting, cake and more, in honor of Feeding South Florida’s 35th anniversary.

When:
Volunteer shifts are available from 9 a.m. on Friday, March 4 through 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 5.

Friday, March 4:
Shift 1:  9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Shift 2:  12–3 p.m.
Shift 3:  3–6 p.m.
Shift 4:  6–9 p.m.
Shift 4:  9 p.m.–12 a.m.

Saturday, March 5:
Shift 1:  12–3 a.m. (double volunteer hours offered)
Shift 2:  3–6 a.m. (double volunteer hours offered)
Shift 3:  6–9 a.m. (double volunteer hours offered)
Shift 4:  9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Shift 5:  12–2 p.m. (kid-friendly shift, for ages 6 and up with only 50 slots available)
Shift 6:  2–5 p.m.
Shift 7:  5–8 p.m.

How:
To register to volunteer, visit feedingsouthflorida.force.com. There is no cost to participate, but registration is required. Note: No children under the age of 12. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. During the kid-friendly shift, kids ages 6 and up are welcome to participate when accompanied by a parent.
