Feeding South Florida Outruns Hunger in Palm Beach County

Feeding South Florida food bank will host its “Outrun Hunger Palm Beach County 5K” on Oct. 24 at Okeeheelee Park, 7715 Forest Hill Blvd., West Palm Beach. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the walk will start at 8 a.m.

The event will raise funds to help end hunger in Palm Beach County and raise awareness for the issue of food insecurity.

“‘The Outrun Hunger Palm Beach County 5K’ is a great way to help our local neighbors in need of food assistance,” said Paco Vélez, Feeding South Florida president/CEO. “Feeding South Florida has a 98 percent efficiency rating, making us the most efficient food bank inPalm Beach County. We are able to provide six meals, or $12 worth of grocery products, for every $1 donated. This is because it only costs us about 13 cents to move a pound of food. By supporting this event, folks are helping set the table for families in need of food assistance.”

Guests can participate as an individual or a team. Medals will be given for the top three places in each age category and overall best times. All participants will receive an official Outrun Hunger 5K T-shirt.

Braman Motorcars West Palm Beach/Jupiter is the presenting sponsor for the event. Additional sponsors are Tyco, PGA National Resort and Spa, Source1 Purchasing, Tunie’s and Oceana Coffee.
