Electrolux Supports Feeding South Florida

In support of Feeding South Florida™ (FSF) and its effort to expand its capacity to serve people in need of food assistance year-round, Electrolux, a global leader in home appliances and appliances for professional use, has donated an exceptional amount of goods and volunteer time to the non-profit organization.

On Tuesday, June 10, approximately 200 Electrolux employees volunteered their time sorting, checking and repackaging donated foods at FSF’s headquarters in Pembroke Park, Fla. Electrolux also donated 2,500 backpacks for FSF’s Backpack Program, which supplies food for children who don’t have the necessary nutrients between Friday’s school lunch and Monday’s school breakfast.

In addition, Electrolux donated 30 freezers to FSF, which FSF partner agencies will receive to help them further serve individuals experiencing food insecurity. Partner agencies who have submitted grant applications will receive the freezers.

Over 20 FSF partner agencies obtained their freezers from FSF headquarters on June 11. These include Palm Beach County partner agencies New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 1st Studio Arts, Salem Haitian Church and Bethany Baptist. Broward County partner agencies which acquired freezers are Ambassador SDA, Living Word, Hermon Community Center, Grace Community Development, Networking for Christ, National Aid Foundation, Community Enhancement, New Wine Ministries and Heart 2 Heart are now receiving freezers. Miami-Dade County partner agencies which obtained freezers are Vida Abundante, Love & Faith, Glory Temple, Wolrd Deliverance Missionary, Omega Power & Praise and Homestead Christian Center.

“We are very grateful to Electrolux for its generous donation of goods and volunteer efforts,” said Paco Vélez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida. “In addition to feeding those struggling to put food on the table, we strive to provide the resources our partner agencies need to distribute the food. Thanks to Electrolux and other donors, we are able to extend our ability to support our partner agencies year-round.”
