Breakfast Recognizes Those Who Help End Hunger

With school out for the summer, fewer children are receiving the nourishment they need to stay healthy and grow strong.

With this in mind, Feeding South Florida launched its Summer Hunger Ends Here campaign in early June. The organization will continue the campaign with its Summer Hunger Ends Here Community Breakfast.

It will take place at 8 a.m. July 12 at Signature Grand, 6900 W. State Road 84, Davie.

During the breakfast program, Feeding South Florida will honor its Partner Agency of the Year in each county it serves: Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties. It will also recognize outstanding volunteer leaders who continually serve others and better their communities.

Honorees include Dora and Thomas Gonzalez, Dillon Bruno, Sarah Brown, The Breakers Palm Beach Resort, Boca Helping Hands, True Gospel and Mt. Pisgah.

“Families are facing summer hunger – or what we at Feeding South Florida call the triple threat,” said Paco Velez, president and CEO of Feeding South Florida. “More than 555,000 kids in South Florida don’t know where their next meal is coming from when school is out over the summer.”

As the campaign continues, Feeding South Florida’s goal is to raise awareness in the community and in turn provide more children with the nourishment they need to stay healthy, grow strong, do well in school and thrive at home.

Sponsors for the Community Breakfast include Humana and JM Family.

Tickets are $25. For more information, visit www.feedingsouthflorida.org/summer-hunger-ends or call 954-518-1818.
