Feeding South Florida Proudly Appoints Alan Alvarez, Director of the Marlins Foundation, to 2018 Board of Directors
Feeding South Florida is proud to announce that Alan Alvarez, Director of the Marlins Foundation, has been appointed to Feeding South Florida’s Board of Directors. Alvarez, who has been part of the Marlins organization for seven years, manages the day-to-day operations of the team foundation and helps guide corporate and charitable giving for the company. Throughout his tenure with the Marlins, the Foundation has invested over $10 million in nonprofit organizations throughout South Florida.
Feeding South Florida President & CEO, Paco Vélez, says of the appointment, “Mr. Alvarez has been a long-time supporter of Feeding South Florida’s mission, and we are delighted to have him join us in a leadership role. His experience and knowledge of our community will undoubtedly help us increase our services and support to the 710,370 South Floridians struggling to put food on the table.”
In addition to his work with the Marlins Foundation, Alan is active with several non-profit organizations. Alvarez earned a bachelor’s degree in Tourism, Recreation and Sports Management from the University of Florida and is currently completing his MBA at Florida International University.

Of his recent appoint to the Board of Directors, Alvarez says, “It’s a tremendous honor to join the Feeding South Florida board. Through my current role at the Marlins Foundation, I’ve experienced firsthand the great work of this organization and worked alongside them in their continued mission to end hunger in South Florida. As a member of their board, I am more than ever committed to helping them advance this mission.
