The Best Way to Retire
Most people think of retirement as a time to do something for themselves – a time to travel or take up a hobby, but for Pam and EuGene Straub retirement has given them the opportunity to make a difference in their community.
For the past two years, Pam and EuGene have been volunteering with Feeding South Florida every Wednesday morning, logging in more than 450 hours of service. “The most impressive part about volunteering at the food bank, is seeing the amount of food that would otherwise go to waste if this place didn’t exist” said EuGene. “It is truly rewarding to know that we can be a part of the solution.”
Pam and EuGene also had the opportunity to help before and after the devastation of Hurricane Irma. “It was amazing to see the food bank mobilize during such a difficult time for South Florida” said Pam. “It was comforting to know that Feeding South Florida was able to provide emergency food and water to our neighbors here and all the way in the Florida Keys.”
Feeding South Florida thanks Pam and EuGene for their dedication and hard work. Because of volunteers like them, we’re connecting families with food and changing lives one meal at a time.
