Feeding South Florida is a regional food bank serving more than 400 nonprofit partner agencies throughout Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties. Our partner agencies are food pantries, soup kitchens, group homes, shelters, child care centers, and more, that provide food and services to more than 784,000 clients each year.

RESCUING & DISTRIBUTING MEALS

Each year in America, roughly 70 billion pounds of good, safe food goes to waste.* The loss occurs at every stage of the food production and distribution system from farmers to packers and shippers, to manufacturers and retailers.

PROGRAMS & SERVICES

With the assistance of our partner agencies, Feeding South Florida is able to provide direct service programs as well as offer a variety of services to people struggling with hunger. We provide safe and nurturing places for children to have a meal; food that helps seniors meet their specific nutritional needs; assistance with benefits enrollment and access; emergency assistance for disaster victims; and a chance at stability for adults trying to break the cycle of poverty and hunger.

LEADER OF ADVOCACY EFFORTS & HUNGER RESEARCH

As the largest domestic hunger-relief organization in the region, Feeding South Florida leading the fight against hunger in our community. We do this by not only feeding people on the ground, but also by raising awareness of the issue across the country. Feeding South Florida educates the public about the impact of hunger through investment in marketing and communications, advocacy and cutting-edge research.

THE FLOW OF FOOD

DONATIONS

Feeding South Florida receives food, grocery and monetary donations from retail stores, growers and farmers, government agencies, companies and corporations, schools, places of worship, individuals, and other organizations.

TRANSPORTATION

Feeding South Florida ensures the reliable transportation and safe storage of the donated products.

INSPECTIONS

As part of the Feeding America network, and a distributor of USDA (TEFAP) Commodities, Feeding South Florida adheres to strict guidelines on food safety, distribution, civil rights, and other governance guidelines. In addition to acting as a clearinghouse for our partner agencies, we also ensure the safe and equitable distribution of food throughout our quad-county service area.

DISTRIBUTION

Emergency food is provided to families and individuals in need through our network of nonprofit partner agencies: food pantries, youth programs, senior centers and through our direct service programs (Mobile Pantry, Meals for Minds, Fresh Food Distribution, Backpack Program, etc.).

OUR IMPACT BY THE NUMBERS

1,040 Delivered weekly to rural areas such as Belle Glade, Homestead, and weekly travel to Monroe County.
